Big Bear California Eagles Greets Your Day

I'm not a morning person, but I've found a surprising way to help me get up and get my day going. The first thing in the morning, I'll go over and say good morning to a local pair of nesting eagles and their chick(s). The nest is at Big Bear, California and has a live webcam that broadcasts 24 hours / day. Its also a great way to see if there's any fresh snow - a rare sight these days - and a great way to see if its worth the long trek up the mountain to go snowboarding!

There were originally 2 baby eagle chicks; only one survives. A cold storm passed through overnight Thu 3/22 - Fri 3/23 and the rain soaked the eagles and their nest. Then the temperature dropped close to freezing and it is suspected that one of the chicks succumbed to the elements.
